Banana Colada

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

My pups absolutely love this recipe. They cannot get enough of them. I have to literally redirect them otherwise they just keep running back for more. I can attest to these being quite tasty. I actually developed a bread similar to banana bread with similar ingredients.

These have pineapple, bananas, carrots and coconut make these a tropical treat for your pup. They will be sure to thank you with a slobbery lick or two. I actually love the texture of these with the carrots and pineapple and coconut.

Wet ingredients:

10 oz. dole pineapple crushed in 100% juice

1 1/2 cups banana pureed

1 cup finely grated peeled carrots

2 T chia seeds in 1/2 cup hot water

(or substitute with one egg)

Dry Ingredients:

1 32 oz container old fashioned oats ground with coffee grinder to fine flour

2 cups blanched almond flour

1 cup rice flour

3/4 cup unsweetened finely grated coconut

1/2 cup buckwheat flour

1/2 t ceylon cinnamon

Step 1: In electric mixer combine pineapple, banana, grated carrots, and chia seed liquid/egg.

Step 2: Add coconut and cinnamon.

Step 3: Slowly add all of ground oats. Continue mixing on low and add rice flour then buckwheat flour, then almond flour 1 cup at a time until tacky to the touch.

Step 4: Place a large piece of plastic wrap onto the counter and place dough on top. Wrap dough in the plastic until completely sealed. Place in refrigerator overnight if using chia seeds. If using egg, proceed to rolling out, cutting, sprinkle a little extra coconut on top, and bake 20-25 minutes, until lightly browned and cooked through.

Step 5: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Remove dough from refrigerator and cut slices to thickness desired, then using dog bone cut outs cut and place on silicone baking mat, on cookie sheet. Sprinkle extra coconut on top of dog bones and place in oven. Bake 20-25 minutes, until lightly browned and cooked through.

If your pup likes thick bones, I suggest poking holes with a fork all the way through for then to bake more evenly. bone Appetit!
